A man’s been charged after Gold Coast police were forced to deploy tyre spikes to stop an out-of-control stolen car.

The 33-year-old man faces a string of offences following the alleged stolen vehicle joyride through the Gold Coast, starting from Logan.

The vehicle, a gold Holden, was stolen from an address in Woodridge on October 23 before it refuelled at a Springwood petrol station and left without paying.

The vehicle was spotted by police on the Logan Motorway at 10pm Friday night where it fled from officers.

PolAir was called in to track the vehicle through Ellen Grove before it re-entered the Logan Motorway and headed south toward the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Police then successfully deployed tyre spikes just off the Pacific Motorway in Robina around midnight.

The vehicle returned to the motorway and continued to travel south for a short period of time.
