A man has been charged with dangerous and drink driving offences following an alleged high-speed chase through MerriMac and Worongary last night.
Police allege they spotted the 23-year-old Ashmore man driving at high speed and displaying false number plates on Gooding Drive around 9pm.
The man sped off when they attempted to pull him over, with Polair being called in to track the car.
The car chase eventually came to an end when the vehicle stopped in Lexington Drive, Worongary with Polair1 tracking the sedan and relaying information to police on the ground.
He then fled on foot, with a police dog finding him not long later hiding under a car in a carport of a nearby property.
The man was taken into custody and received first aid for a minor dog bite.
He was transported to Southport Watchhouse where he provided a specimen of breath for analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.09% and charged with driving over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit.
He was further charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disqualified and unlicenced driving, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, failing to stop at red light, fail to comply with requirement to stop, obstruct police, possess drug utensils and possessing dangerous drugs (cannabis).
The man is expected front Southport Magistrates Court on July 7.
