A 19-year-old man has been charged after leading police on a wild stolen car chase across the Gold Coast overnight.
It all unfolded around 7.00pm on Tuesday after officers were alerted to a stolen white BMW driving erratically through Maudsland.
“PolAir monitored the vehicle as it travelled south on the M1 to Coolangatta, before heading north on the Gold Coast Highway,” a Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC.
“Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at Currumbin around 9pm”.
The vehicle continued to drive on its rims before eventually coming to a stop at a shopping centre carpark on Mudgeeraba Road in Nerang around 9.30pm.
The driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken into custody at the scene.
He has since been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The man will appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.
Police have confirmed the BMW had been stolen from a home in Ashmore earlier on Tuesday.
