A man has been charged with a string of offences after police uncovered a number of guns and ammunition after intercepting a suspicious car in Helensvale.
The unregistered vehicle caught the attention of officers outside a tavern along Sir John Overall Drive around 11.30pm on Sunday.
“Upon speaking to the man, police observed a bullet on the passenger’s side seat of the vehicle,” a Gold Coast police spokesperson said.
It prompted officers to search the vehicle, where they located two firearms, a knife and more ammunition.
A 44-year-old man from Helensvale has been charged with a number of offences including unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle and unlicenced driving.
He’s also been slapped with possession of a knife, possession of a utensil, failure to properly dispose of a syringe, authority to possess explosives (ammunition) and two counts of unlawfully possess a weapon.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on June 19.
