A man has been charged over a shocking incident involving the alleged assault of two paramedics and a police officer on the Gold Coast.
The ambulance crew were called to a Molendinar address just before 3pm on Sunday, finding the patient acting “erratic and aggressive”.
The 38-year-old is accused of pushing the male paramedic, before grabbing a female paramedic in an “inappropriate manner” and exposing himself.
Police were called in and when they arrived the man allegedly kicked a male officer in the chest and spat on him.
Superintendent Peter Miles says this kind of behaviour towards public officers who are trying to do their job, will not be tolerated.
“Our emergency crews deserve to go to work every day and not be fearful that they could be attacked or mistreated.” Superintendent Miles says.
“That kind of behaviour is not acceptable in front of anyone, let alone someone whose job it is to help.
The 38-year-old Arundel man has been charged with three counts of serious assault of a public officer performing function, and one count each of sexual assault, indecent act in a public place, and serious assault police officer by spitting.
He is expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today.
