A 64-year-old man has been charged after allegedly flashing a young girl at a northern Gold Coast shopping centre.

The man is accused of exposing himself to the 11-year-old and her 28-year-old mother at a Pimpama shopping complex around 4pm Monday.

The matter was reported to police later that night, with an arrest coming shortly after.

Police are now conducting further investigations to establish if the incident is linked to any other reports of a similar nature.

It follows a string of unsolved reports of flashings on young girls at Gold Coast shopping centres late last year.

The Pimpama man has been charged with one count each of indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access and indecent treatment of a child under 12 (expose).

He will front Southport Magistrates Court on 13 February.
