A manhunt is underway after another man was assaulted in the emergency department at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
The violent attack unfolded in the early hours of this morning whilst the two men were seated in the waiting room.
“Both males were sitting there, we’ve got CCTV of them, it appears one male has made a derogatory comment to the other male who has then assaulted that person who made the comment,” Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon told ABC Gold Coast.
The attacker fled the scene before police arrived, but officers say he won’t be hard to track down.
“We know who he is, he’s one of our people who report to police and he has an ankle bracelet,” Chief Supt Hanlon said.
“So we’re confident we know who he is and we will track him down today”.
Investigations are ongoing.
