A man has been extradited to Sydney after being arrested on the Gold Coast over the alleged murder of bikie associate Jamie Goodworth earlier this year.
Goodworth was allegedly part of a group that attempted to break into a property in Edensor Park in February, when he was shot at close range by a man on the other side of the door.
The 32-year-old was dumped at Liverpool Hospital by his associates, but he was unable to be revived and died a short time later.
Officers attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, along with the NSW Crime Commission, established Strike Force Heye to investigate the fatal shooting.
Following extensive inquiries, police this week executed search warrants in Bonnyrigg and Leppington in NSW and Surfers Paradise and Hawthorne in Queensland.
During the searches, police located and seized electronics, cash, and various documentation relevant to the investigation.
At the Surfers Paradise home, police arrested a 24-year-old man who appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, where detectives applied for and were granted his extradition.
The man was escorted to Sydney and taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today.
