Man arrested following alleged assault on Gold Coast cop

A man is under police guard in hospital after allegedly attacking a Gold Coast police officer in Southport.

It happened around 1.15pm along Bailey Crescent, with the man allegedly attacking a cop before being arrested.

The man has been transported to hospital for observation under police guard.

A Queensland Police spokesperson couldn’t say what occurred in the lead-up to the incident.
