A man accused of shooting a teenager in a fast-food restaurant car park on the Gold Coast earlier this year has finally been tracked down and arrested.
The 19-year-old victim was standing in the car park on Sir John Overall Drive in Helensvale around 6.20pm on January 23 when he was allegedly shot in the elbow.
The man accused of firing the gunshot fled the scene in a White Nissan Qashqai and remained on the run from authorities for almost two months.
However, following “thorough investigations”, police today confirmed they arrested a 32-year-old Moorooka man at Narangba on March 8.
He has since been charged with a string of offences including two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and possessing dangerous drugs.
He’s also facing one count each of unlawful wounding, armed robbery, attempted enter dwelling with intent, enter premises and commit indictable offence, failure to take reasonable care and precautions in respect of syringe, failure to appear, obstruct police, possess S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons and unlawful use of motor vehicles.
The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
