A man has been charged following a wild high-speed police chase involving a truck on the M1.

The truck was spotted driving erratically and swerving at cars after entering Queensland from NSW at around 1.15pm this afternoon.

Polair began tracking the vehicle, and several cars were hit during the rampage.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed just before 1.30pm on the M1 at Currumbin.

The chase came to a stop at around 2.30pm at Yatala after the driver jumped from the truck while it was still running.

Police tackled the driver with one officer suffering a laceration to his face during the arrest.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with eight offences including one count each of wilful damage, drink driving, driving without a licence, and posses property connected to drug offence, and four counts of fail to comply with duties of driver involved in crash.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, June 21.

Two lanes of the M1 were closed off from Yatala during the chaos.
