A man has been arrested in dramatic scenes in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
Police say an “altercation” broke out between a group of people around 1.45pm this afternoon, before a tinny was allegedly set on fire near the Isle of Capri bridge.
The blaze sent thick black smoke billowing across the suburb, before being quickly extinguished by firefighters.
The male in his 30s was taken into custody and has been hospitalised with minor injuries under police guard.
Footage shows the man being held down on the road by two men and two paramedics.
Police remain on the scene with those involved as investigations continue.
More to come.
