A Logan man has been charged over a dramatic crash on the Gold Coast overnight which saw a car smash through the front wall of a home.

Police say initial investigations suggest a Haval Jolion station wagon was travelling north along Oxley Drive in Runaway Bay when it smashed into a Holden Colorado dual cab around 6pm.

The impact sent the ute ploughing through the front brick fence of a nearby home, while the Jolion ended up on its roof.

The driver of the Jolion, a 36-year-old man, allegedly ran from the scene but was tracked down by officers a short time later and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the ute was also hospitalised following the smash.

The 36-year-old man has now been issued a notice to appear for one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving.

He’s continuing to assist police with investigations into the stolen vehicle, which was taken from a home in Currumbin Waters on Monday.
