LATEST @ 9.00 AM | A man has been rescued after scaling a crane in Broadbeach and falling asleep.
Emergency crews rushed to a construction site on the corner of Old Burleigh Road and Charles Avenue around 8am Friday after receiving reports of a man lying on the crane’s ballast.
It sparked a major rescue operation comprising of Queensland Firefighters, Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance.
Firefighters finally managed to reach the man around 8.30am and bring him down safely.
He was checked over at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Police investigations are ongoing.
EARLIER @ 8.15 AM | A major rescue operation is underway in Broadbeach after a man allegedly scaled a crane before falling asleep on the ballast.
It’s happened at a construction site on the corner of Old Burleigh Road and Charles Avenue, with police, fire crews and paramedics all on scene.
A Queensland Police spokesperson has confirmed to Hot Tomato that the man has since woken up and moved himself into the cage area of the crane.
Emergency crews are currently formulating a plan to try and get him down.
