A Gold Coast man’s spur-of-the-moment decision to get rid of the loose change in his car has paid off – winning $10,000 on a $1 Instant Scratch-It!
The lucky Helensvale resident purchased the $1 Lucky Clover scratchie at the newsXpress in Oxenford.
Speaking with an official from The Lott about his win this morning, the man admitted he had only bought a few scratchies in his lifetime and was “absolutely stoked”.
“I thought, ‘why not,’ and grabbed a bunch of coins that were sitting in my car and before I knew it, I was holding a $10,000 ticket,” the man said.
“Having never really won anything before, I raced back to the newsagent to get it scanned again, just to make sure it was real.
“It was the last ticket I bought too!
“I’ve never really played Instant Scratch-Its before either, but I might play a little bit more in the future.”
The man said he plans on using the money to fix his car, before celebrating with loved ones.
“My car needs a few repairs so it will get some much-needed attention,” he said.
“Then I’ll celebrate with friends and family in the next couple of weeks.”
