A worker has managed to escape uninjured after a fire broke out at a popular kebab shop on the Gold Coast.

Emergency Crews were called to the Southport Kebab shop on Scarborough Street around 3.45pm on Sunday following reports of a blaze.

Upon arrival, they found smoke issuing from the building.

Fortunately, firies were able to get the blaze under control pretty quickly, stopping the flames from spreading to neighbouring businesses.

However, the kebab shop was significantly damaged.

The worker, a woman aged in her 30s, was assessed at the scene but was not physically injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, with investigations ongoing.
