There’s been a lucky escape for a mother and child following a house fire on the northern Gold Coast overnight.

The blaze erupted at a property along Greenwich Avenue in Pimpama around 11.30pm on Wednesday.

It’s understood the smoke alarms inside the home alerted the residents, who were able to quickly escape before the flames took hold.

Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have started in the garage.

At this stage, there don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances, with electrical items believed to be to blame.
