There’s been a lucky escape for a young family on the Gold Coast after one of the residents crashed his car through the front of their home.

The 59-year-old man is believed to have been trying to park his work ute when he accidentally hit the accelerator just before 7.00pm last night.

It caused him to smash into another parked car and then into the front loungeroom of the Ranier Crescent property in Varsity Lakes.

Thankfully, the four members of the young family at the home were not in the room at the time and no one was injured.

The house was badly damaged, but a Gold Coast police spokesperson told myGC the property did not sustain any structural damage.

“The vehicle was towed from the house without further incident,” the spokesperson said.
