Three people have managed to escape injury after a truck erupted into flames on the Pacific Motorway.

The vehicle caught fire during the busy peak hour commute southbound near Exit 49 at Pimpama around 6pm on Monday.

It shut down parts of the M1 for several hours as crews worked to douse the flames before removing the vehicle.

The driver and two passengers were assessed at the scene by paramedics but thankfully did not require treatment or transport to hospital.

It’s still not clear at this stage exactly what sparked the large fire.
