There’s been a lucky escape for residents on the Gold Coast overnight after their home erupted into flames.

The blaze broke out at a property along Savoy Drive in Broadbeach Waters just before 10pm.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson told myGC the house, along with an adjoining shed, were “well involved” when fire crews arrived on scene.

It took four crews around two hours to douse the flames, with fireys wrapping up the job just after midnight.

The QFES spokesperson told Hot Tomato all residents managed to get out before the flames took hold of the property, so no one was injured.

It’s not yet known what sparked the inferno, however, early investigations suggest it may have started in the property’s meter box.

A fire investigator is expected to head back to the scene today.
