Heavy rainfall is continuing to lash the Gold Coast today, with the weather bureau renewing its severe weather warning.

Residents are warned locally intense rainfall may lead to dangerous, life-threatening flash flooding.

There’s the possibility we may see 24-hour rain totals exceeding 350 millimetres.

Daniel Hayes from the Bureau of Meteorology has told myGC the flash flooding risk is not over.

“It does seem to have somewhat eased a little bit overnight at this point, but there is the potential we could still see heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding,” Mr Hayes says.

“Three to six hourly rainfall totals between 100-200 mm are still likely over the cause of the next 24 hours,

“There remains some uncertainty in the movement and the timing of the system but the heavy rainfall risk may ease by later tonight or in th early hours of the morning.
