A fire has broken out in one of the Gold Coast’s biggest shopping centres overnight.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson told myGC the blaze started at Pacific Fair in Broadbeach around 11pm.

Firefighters say smoke was seen coming from inside one of the stores when they arrived, with crews having to force their way in.

Thankfully, the spokesperson said the internal sprinkler had done most of the work and crews were able to get everything under control pretty quickly.

However, some stores may face a cleanup this morning, with several believed to have sustained water damage.

The cause of the fire remains unclear.
