A Coombabah woman is planning to visit interstate family and pick up a brand-new hairdryer after her huge win in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.

The retiree was one of four division one winners, taking home a cool $1.53 million.

She confessed she needed to take the edge of her “brain-numbing” win with a midnight cup of tea after checking her result late on Saturday evening.

“It was 9pm on Saturday night, and I was lying in bed while my husband watched a movie downstairs, and I thought I should probably check my Lotto ticket, but I didn’t expect anything like this,” the woman told officials from The Lott after receiving the news.

“I checked it once, twice, and then a third time before I bellowed out to my husband. I met him at the bedroom door – he thought I was yelling about a cockroach.”

The woman admitted the first thing on her shopping list is a new hairdryer after hers broke a couple of weeks ago.

She also plans to catch up with family and friends around the country that she hasn’t been able to see in the past couple years due to COVID restrictions.

“It’s an absolute fortune! We won’t be blowing it, that’s for sure. We might do some work to the house, buy a new car, and help out some family members.”

The winning ticket was purchased at IGA Coombabah.

“This is a huge milestone for us as a store and for the lucky winner – we’d like to extend our congratulations,” IGA Coombabah owner Yadvinder Sing said.

“It couldn’t have gone to a nicer person.”
