Concerns are being held for an injured female motorist who remains on the run after allegedly fleeing the scene of a nasty crash in Coombabah.

Police allege the woman’s vehicle ploughed into another car at the busy intersection of Brisbane Road and Marble Arch Place around 7.30am on Tuesday.

The impact caused her vehicle to roll onto its roof, with the woman immediately fleeing into nearby bushland despite suffering a serious injury to her head.

“We’ve got images of her at the scene with an injury to her head, and blood coming from her head,” Senior Constable Craig Trethewey said.

“So we’re coming from a welfare perspective at this stage, she may have panicked for whatever reason we don’t know”.

Police spent the day combing through bushland, even calling in the police chopper to assist from the skies, but they’ve so far been unable to locate the woman.

The driver of the other car, a woman in her 60s, was assessed by paramedics and taken to Gold Coast Private Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
