Police are investigating the break-in and attempted arson of a popular Indian restaurant in Runaway Bay.
A wannabe thief allegedly broke into the Lae Drive restaurant around 11.56am on Sunday, in order to access the neighbouring Tobacco store which is in the process of being fitted out.
A Gold Coast police spokesperson told myGC nothing was stolen, however, it appears the offenders attempted to set a fire in the Indian restaurant while on their way out.
“A crime scene was declared, with forensic officers attending and conducting examinations,” the police spokesperson said.
Investigations are ongoing to track down and identify those responsible.
