COVID-19 testing clinics across the Gold Coast are being inundated as many open their doors for the first time in 2022.
Many of the private pathology sites have been closed over the last three days, leading to a major backlog in people needing to get tested.
Queues for the testing centres in Southport, Robina and Mudgeeraba started building at 5am on Tuesday, several hours before the centres were due to open their doors.
It was an extremely frustrating morning for hundreds of people who lined up for hours to get into the QML testing site in Robina, only to learn it wasn’t opening its doors today.
Signs around the site said it was reopening but that was not the case.

Similar complaints have also being made about testing centres in Nerang, Bond University and Pimpama.
Some centres are not opening their doors until January 10.
Locals have also reported heavy delays along Worongary Road in Mudgeeraba as many wait to get into the drive-in clinic at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if they can.
