It’s been a long and difficult night for fire crews in Logan after a storage facility erupted into flames.

The massive blaze broke out at a storage shed business on Kingston Road in Kingston around 10pm on Thursday.

Police were forced to declare an emergency situation as thick black smoke billowed over the suburb, with nearby residents evacuated from their homes.

An exclusion zone encompassing Kingston Road, Juers Road, Skyline Drive, Jacaranda Avenue and Hibiscus Street was put in place, with an evacuation centre established at the Kingston Butter Factory.

“Residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications close by if required,” police said.

More than 50 firefighters were called to battle the raging blaze, which took crews around eight hours to bring under control.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed two people, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s, were taken to Logan Hospital in stable conditions for “medical concerns”.
