The holiday travel exodus has begun, with motorists hitting the road today told to expect major delays as families make their way home from their Easter escapes.
The Pacific Motorway is already at a crawl northbound as the long weekend draws to a close.
Traffic is bumper to bumper pretty much all the way from Tweed Heads to Elanora.
It’s also really heavy in sections along the Gold Coast Highway, especially through Tugun, Tallebudgera, Burleigh and Southport.
Authorities are urging drivers to allow as much time as possible for delays.
“Please take your time… if you’re travelling long distances today, plan your trips, make sure you’ve got enough time to get to where you’re going and get home safely,” Acting Senior Sergeant Beth Fletcher told Nine.
Motorists are also being encouraged to drive outside of peak hours.
