After weeks of speculation, Titans coach Justin Holbrook has confirmed who will lead the side this year.

Following an admirable first season in the top job, Holbrook has revealed Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will keep the coveted ‘C’ next to his name in 2023.

Holbrook showed his faith in the Queensland Origin star last year, handing him the captaincy at the age of just 21.

Speaking to SEN’s Sportsday, he again declared Tino is the perfect person for the job.

“It’s definitely going to be Tino on his own,” Holbrook said.

It squashes speculation star recruit Kieran Foran may have been in line to take over, or even share the honour.

“We’ll have a number of guys sitting under him like Kieran Foran and Sam Verrills, and AJ Brimson has improved out of sight with his leadership, especially at the backend of last year,” Holbrook said.

“When we won three out of our last four, he really stepped up and we’ve got Isaac Liu there as well; so there’s probably four or five guys under Tino that will help him which is the way we want it, but I’m sticking with Tino to lead the charge.”

Both Kieran Foran and Isaac Liu have heaped praise on Fa’asuamaleaui, with the pair having nothing but glowing words for the Titans leader during recent media appearances.

“Tino has been doing a sensational job,” Foran said.

“I think he did an admirable job last season, and he’s a guy who leads from the front.

“I’m really comfortable with what Tino has shown so far, he’s a great young man and from my point of view, he’s the guy to really lead this club forward.”

Liu echoed similar sentiments in an interview this week.

“Tino is a good captain for us and he’s maturing so much,” he said.

“I’m just in the background and there to support him 100%. No matter what decisions he makes, I’m there to help him through these tough times and make sure we’re on the right path.”
