Police are on the hunt for a would-be thief who remains on the run following a terrifying encounter with neighbours on a quiet Gold Coast street.
Residents spotted a suspicious vehicle allegedly scoping out properties and cars in Robina earlier this week.
It’s alleged the occupants of the vehicle returned to the street twice in a brazen attempt to steal a Mercedes parked in the driveway of a home.
Two locals launched into action and tried to stop the vehicle, however, one of the men was dragged by the suspected stolen car which then sped off.
Fortunately, the resident managed to escape with minor injuries.
It didn’t take long before police tracked down the suspected stolen car in Miami, where a 21-year-old man was found asleep inside.
He’s now been charged with a string of offences, however, his accomplice remains on the run.
Investigations are ongoing.
