A heatwave warning has been issued for large parts of the Queensland coast including the Gold Coast with the southeast set to swelter.
The BOM is expecting a low-intensity heatwave across the Gold Coast for the next few days.
Temperatures are expected to hit 30 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, rising to 33 on Friday.
The warm weather will continue on Saturday with the mercury expected to hit 32 degrees while Sunday will only be marginally better with a top of 30.
Heatwave conditions are expected to gradually ease after the weekend.
The heat comes as unsettled conditions continue across much of the state.
Thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday and Thursday with the possibility they could be severe.
Storm action is also possible on Saturday.
Heatwave Safety Advice

- Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
- Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
- If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
