Harry Styles hysteria is reaching a whole new level on the Gold Coast as excited fans flock to the city for the megastar’s one and only Queensland show.
Crowds have already started to gather outside Heritage Bank Stadium in Carrara as die-hard fans try to get front and centre for tonight’s concert.
Organisers had urged people to steer clear, with queuing not officially opening until 8am, but eager fans are already waiting by to be the first in line to get the best glimpse of the heartthrob.
The stadium is expected to welcome the largest crowd in its history, with up to 50,000 people anticipated to sing their Best Song Ever.
Gates to the venue open at 5pm, with the event to kick off at 6.50pm.
Those heading to the concert are being urged to use public transport, with extra bus and train services being put on to keep up with demand.
Anyone with a ticket will be able to travel to the stadium for free.
“There will be more than 120 buses and 10 post-event trains to help fans safely get to the stadium and home again,” Head of Translink Sally Stannard said.
Dedicated shuttle buses will run to the stadium between 1pm and 8pm from Nerang station, Boowaggan Road park ‘n’ ride at Merrimac and Broadbeach South station, and then back to the same locations from the stadium from 9pm.
Post-event trains from Nerang station will start from 9.42pm with the last Varsity Lakes train at 10.42pm and the last train leaving for Beenleigh and Brisbane at 11.19pm.
“With a broad range of services in place, we encourage customers to take the hassle out of your transport and let us do the driving to and from the event,” Ms Stannard said.
“There will also be free travel from midday for pre-purchased ticketholders on G:link trams, Surfside Buslines services and Queensland Rail trains, excluding Airtrain and long-distance services.”
Fans are being urged to plan their journey in advance to ensure a smooth run.
“With a record crowd expected, we ask patrons to allow plenty of travel time before the show,” Ms Stannard said.
“We also ask for patience as we work to clear the crowd as safely and quickly as possible after the concert.”
