The Groundwater Country Music Festival has been hailed as another massive success for the Gold Coast.
The festival has wrapped up in Broadbeach following three epic days of boot-scootin’ action, with organisers and country music lovers describing it as a “party to remember”.
Tens of thousands of country music fans flocked to the heart of the city to help celebrate 10 years of the event.
They were treated to performances from over 50 artists including Australian royalty Lee Kernaghan, Amber Lawrence, Adam Harvey & Beccy Cole, The Wolfe Brothers and Gold Coast local Casey Barnes.
The country music stars were among a stacked lineup that also featured the next wave of home-grown artists.
Festival director Mark Duckworth said he couldn’t be more proud of how far the humble event has come.
“Ten years ago, we went out on a limb and put on a country music festival on the Gold Coast,” he said.
“Since then, country music has exploded into one of the most popular music genres in Australia and it is exciting to see our festival heaving with new and loyal fans.
“The crowds and atmosphere over the past three days was a reflection of Australia’s growing love affair with country music.
“It’s not surprising considering Australia has one of the biggest fan bases in the world.”
It wasn’t just music lovers that benefited, with local businesses also heaving with tourists and residents alike, who provided a significant cash boost to the local economy.
