A Gold Coast man’s been charged with multiple offences following a police chase overnight.
Police spotted a Hyundai, which was allegedly stolen from an Arundel home, along Edmund Rice Drive in Southport just after 10.30 pm, but it fled off when police activated the lights and siren.
PolAir was then called in to assist, and tracked the car which was travelling at high speed along the Smith Street Motorway and north on the M1.
It exited at Pacific Pines before a tyre deflation device was deployed along Binstead Way.
The car came to a stop near the Coles along Pitcairn Way before the driver fled into the carpark.
He was tracked down by the dog squad a short time later and arrested.
The 38-year-old from Upper Coomera has now been charged with two counts of enter premises, one count each of dangerous driving, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing (number plates), fail to stop vehicle, possession of a weapon (handgun), possession of explosive (ammunition), possession of drug utensils (pipe and scales) and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis).
He’s due in Southport Court today.
