Gold Coast wakes to wet weather as unseasonable rain hits city

Locals and tourists may have to whip out the gumboots today, with some unseasonable winter rain arriving on the Gold Coast.

A massive cloud band is moving in from the north, bringing with it the wet weather.

Residents woke to showers on Tuesday morning, which are set to continue throughout the day.

At least 30mm of rain has been forecast to fall across the city today, with another 10mm on the cards for tomorrow.

In some good news for those with outdoor plans this weekend, the rain will be shortlived, with the wet weather expected to clear by Wednesday afternoon.

The sunshine will be out by Friday, however, temperatures are set to plummet across the city, with a low of just 8 degrees expected over the weekend and heading into next week.
