It looks like the Gold Coast will have a say in how the 2032 Olympics is delivered after all.

The Premier is expected to today unveil a new “leaders forum”, which will include members of local, state and federal Governments.

It will include the Mayor of the Gold Coast Tom Tate, along with the Mayors of the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

According to Newscorp, the co-ordination office and the infrastructure entity will both report to the specially-formed leaders forum, which will be chaired by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The move comes after the State Government was criticised last week for scrapping the proposed independent Games infrastructure authority, which would have had oversight from all levels of Government.

Instead, it was announced that an Olympic co-ordination office and separate Olympics infrastructure Office would be set up within the Premier’s department.

Organising Committee for the Olympic Games president Andrew Liveris will also join the newly established leaders forum, which will be accountable to parliament.
