Some good news for those struggling to adjust to the heatwave conditions that have been impacting Queensland over the past week.

A windy spell currently wreaking havoc across much of the country’s southeast is set to move our way, bringing with it cooler temperatures over the next few days.

The wild winds have been tearing down trees and powerlines in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia, with those in Melbourne even told to stay home.

Adelaide, Sydney and parts of Tasmania have also been copping the brunt of the wild weather, with severe weather warnings in place for strong winds and thousands of homes without power.

The cold air is set to move up to Queensland tomorrow, dropping temperatures in the sunshine state by around eight degrees into the low 20s.

It will be short-lived though, with the mercury forecast to warm back up to 28 degrees on the Gold Coast by the weekend.
