A 17-year-old boy has been charged after police allegedly found 3kg of meth in his car on the Gold Coast.
Officers intercepted the teen while he was driving on the Gold Coast Highway in Surfers Paradise on April 4.
Following a vehicle search, police allege they found three 1kg packages of methylamphetamine hidden inside a duffle bag.
The 17-year-old from Biggera Waters has been charged one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possess things used in commission of a drug offence (phone).
He’ll appear before the Southport Children’s Court.
Police say the arrest forms part of an ongoing joint investigation with New South Wales (NSW) Police Force, targeting an alleged cross-border drug syndicate.
Yesterday, NSW Police stopped a vehicle at Nabiac on the mid-north Coast, seizing 20kg of a substance alleged to be methylamphetamine and arresting a 26-year-old man.
It will be alleged the vehicle was travelling to Queensland.
Major and Organised Crime Squad Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Bull says these results are the culmination of extensive collaborative investigations by Queensland and New South Wales police.
“We will continue to target criminal networks and dismantle syndicates to take these harmful and prohibited drugs off our streets,” Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Bull says.
“We urge anyone with information in regards to drugs in our community to come forward.”
