Gold Coast teen sensation Arisa Trew has made Australian history after winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The 14-year-old took out the women’s park event to become Australia’s youngest-ever medallist.
The Palm Beach local fell in her first run before putting on an incredible final run to clinch gold.
Arisa says she’s proud of her achievement.
“It’s really cool being Australia’s youngest gold medallist because it’s the country I’m representing, it’s where I live, it’s who I am, and it’s just super cool,”
“It’s amazing, I’m so stoked and it was just such an exciting moment and day,
“It feels amazing having the Gold medal around my neck. It’s been my goal since watching the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.”
The teen took up skateboarding at 8 years old, revealing she used to surf before that but found the water too cold during winter.
Arisa’s gold is Australia’s 14th of the Paris Olympics so far.
Her dad, Simon, told Channel Nine, the family is so proud of her.
“We can’t believe it! It’s crazy, absolutely crazy,”
“Just going out and having fun and enjoying the sport, and being active and having a good time; that’s all we’ve ever encouraged her to do.”
