Glory for the Gold Coast Suns with a shock victory over the Sydney Swans in the AFL last night.

They got points on the board early and were able to lead for most of the game, despite a heavy third quarter push from Sydney.

But despite a four goal comeback, the Suns kept it cool in the final quarter to claim the victory 75 to 61.

Coach Stuart Dew is pleased with the outcome, but says there is still work to be done.

“I’ve sat here the last couple of weeks and said we’re close but still so far,” Dew said post match.

“And haven’t been able to get over the end.

“We’ve kept them to 41 inside 50s so defensively stronger, offensively – able to take some chances – but we’ve still got some things we can improve on.”

The win brings to end a three game losing streak for the side ahead of next week’s clash against Freemantle.

“At different times our believe has never waivered internally,” Coach Stuart Dew said.

“Obviously, externally, absolutely we understand that at different times it’s hard to keep believing when you’re close but you’re not getting a win to tick it over.

“Just a bit of a shot of confidence. It’s good to get that one.”
