The Gold Coast Suns AFLW team is well and truly on the rise and headed for a spot in the finals after a massive win last night.

They defeated the Geelong Cats 7.7 (49) to 6.2 (38) in front of the home crowd at Metricon Stadium, despite being slightly down at quarter time.

Their 49 points also make up their biggest score in the team’s short history.

Alison Drennan broke her record for most possessions with 30, and dominated clearances in the midfield.

The Gold Coast now look to their next match, a QClash against the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium.
