The weather bureau is warning Gold Coasters to expect more rain across the city today, following a wild 24 hours of torrential downpours.

While heavy rain lashed the entire region, it appears the more southern and hinterland suburbs copped the worst of the wild weather.

Mudgeeraba has seen the highest rainfall over the last 24 hours, with more than 160 millimetres recorded.

Over 69mm of that fell in just half an hour during the height of yesterday’s storm action, leading to some flash flooding in the area.

Burleigh Waters has also received over 150 millimetres, while Coolangatta recorded 112mm and Upper Springbrook 132mm.

Two roads remain impacted by flooding, with Currumbin Creek Road in Currumbin Valley and Hardys Road in Mudgeeraba both underwater.

Motorists are being urged to drive to the conditions and to remember to switch on headlights if out and about on the roads.
