If you thought it was extra chilly this morning – you’re not wrong.

South East Queensland is currently experiencing one of its coldest mornings of the year, with locals being treated to a little taste of winter.

Gold Coasters found themselves reaching for an extra blanket when temperatures dropped to 8.8 degrees at the Seaway just before 3am.

It was even cooler in Coolangatta, where the mercury dropped to 4.2C around 6am.

While hinterland residents shivered through an icy -0.8 around the same time.

Warwick was Queensland’s coldest location, with locals there forced to whip out their hot water bottles when the temp dropped to -1.7C.

The mercury is expected to rise throughout the morning, with the Gold Coast in for a lovely sunny day with a top of 22C.
