You’ve got to see it to believe it.

After months of record high petrol prices, the cost of fuel has finally come down, giving Gold Coast motorists a bit of relief at the bowser.

In what feels like a Christmas in July miracle, Gold Coast drivers can today fill up for less than $1.70 a litre!

Some service stations across the city have been spotted selling unleaded for $1.67, which is even below today’s fair fuel price of $1.79.

The cheap fuel appears to mainly be in Nerang and Carrara, however, it’s hoped other servos will soon follow suit.

It’s understood that “unexpected international factors”, including a dramatic drop in global oil prices, is to thank.

“This is great news for motorists who, not too long ago, were paying around 225cpl for unleaded,” RACQ spokesperson Lauren Cooney said.

It comes as the Federal Government’s temporary cut to the fuel excise comes to an end in September, with motorists warned petrol prices will likely sky-rocket once again.
