Motorists are being warned a major road on the northern Gold Coast remains closed this morning following a serious crash.
Two vehicles, including a four-wheel drive and SUV, collided along Peachey Road at Yatala around 3am.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and worked to free the driver of the 4WD, who had to be cut from the wreckage of the vehicle which had rolled.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics for significant head and leg injuries before he was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Peachey Road remains closed between Pearson Road and Stanmore Road as the Forensic Crash Unit investigate.
“Motorists are urged to obey traffic directions, avoid the area where possible and seek alternative routes,” Queensland Police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
