Four people have been arrested after allegedly trying to steal a motorbike from a Gold Coast home, which sparked a dramatic confrontation with residents.
The group were spotted by residents in an alleged stolen vehicle on Riverlinks Boulevard in Helensvale just before 4am this morning.
The residents blocked the roadway by lining up their own vehicles as a barricade, to stop the alleged wannabe thieves from getting away.
The stolen vehicle, a 2009 White Toyota Corolla, then rammed the barricade, striking the resident’s cars and causing substantial to all vehicles.
The four accused were taken down and arrested by police near the scene.
No one was injured in the incident.
The white Corolla was stolen from a residence at Surfers Paradise on April 21.
Investigations are continuing into the incident, with charges expected to be laid.
