A young Gold Coast man has died after his car collided with a tree in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

The Mazda MX5 was travelling along Beechmont Road at Lower Beechmont around 10.20pm last night when it lost control.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the vehicle then left the roadway and ploughed into a tree.

The 25-year-old male driver from Coomera, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

Police investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
