A 27-year-old Gold Coast man has been left critically injured following a horror M1 pile-up in Eight Mile Plains earlier this week.
It happened on the Pacific Motorway, near the Gateway Motorway off-ramp, on Monday, April 3 at around 6.30am, with police now appealing for witnesses to come forward as they work to piece together the incident.
Investigations indicate a truck was traveling north when it struck the back of a blue 2013 Mazda 2 being driven by the 27-year-old Helensvale man.
It caused the Mazda to then smash into a Honda Civic, which has struck a Lexus IS250, which then crashed into a Hino 500 series truck.
Five vehicles were damaged in total.
The Helensvale man was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The truck driver was also transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has relevant dashcam footage, is urged to contact police.
