Police have confirmed a young Gold Coast man has died in hospital following a horror crash in the Scenic Rim.
Nick Caputo suffered critical injuries after his motorbike allegedly crashed into the back of a ute towing a horse trailer at Boyland.
The accident occurred along Mundoolun Connection Road just before 5pm on Friday, March 31.
The 20-year-old from Oxenford was treated at the scene before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
He was placed on life support, but police confirmed he sadly passed away from his injuries this morning.
Tributes have since flooded social media, with one friend and work colleague describing Caputo as a “bubbly, kind hearted and genuine soul”.
“I’m heartbroken to hear of your passing Nick Caputo,” Amber Heaton wrote.
“You were such a bubbly, kind hearted and genuine soul. The way you used to walk into any kitchen with the biggest smile on your face and bring so much happiness to a room shows how much everyone loved you.
“It was an honour to not only call you a work colleague but a friend as well. You have gone way too soon and will be deeply missed by all”.
The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam, to come forward as investigations continue.
