A Gold Coast man has been charged with sexually touching another person at the Splendour in the Grass music festival in Byron Bay.

The 40-year-old is one of 100 people who have been slapped with charges for various offences at the popular three-day event over the weekend.

The man, from Surfers Paradise, has been charged with sexually touch another person without consent.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday 21 August.

During the course of the police operation, officers also seized a stash of drugs including cannabis, MDMA capsules, mushrooms, ecstasy tablets, methylamphetamine and white powder believed to be cocaine.

As a result, 42 Future Court Attendance Notices were issued, along with 36 Criminal Infringement Notices and 31 Cannabis Cautions.

“While most of the attendees were compliant, it’s disappointing that we continue to detect the possession and supply of prohibited drugs,” Tweed Police District Commander Superintendent David Roptell said.
